With over fifty years of innovative programming and almost 800 alumni, our mission has always stayed constant. Bridging the intergenerational gap of undergraduates and executives is key to solving the challenges of the future.
Timeline
1968
Business Today was founded as a magazine by Steve Forbes, Michael Mims, and Jonathan Perel on Princeton’s campus during the Vietnam War.
Their publication gained nationwide notoriety, including an article by the Wall Street Journal, and one of their first issues featured then presidential candidates Hubert Humphrey and Richard Nixon.
1969
The co-founders are interviewed on The Today Show.
1971
The first Business Tomorrow conference is held, and the Foundation for Student Communication is created.
1974
The inaugural International Conference is held.
Late 1970’S
Henry Kissinger and Gerald R. Ford keynote the International Conferences.
Early 1980’s
John Sculley, CEO of Apple, writes “Building the Information Age: Technologies of the future aren’t something to be taken for granted” in Business Today.
Late 1980’s
Business Today writes “The Media King,” an exclusive interview with Rupert Murdoch.
2008
In the 40th anniversary issue, Business Today interviews Richard Branson, Hugh Hefner, and Vera Wang.
2012
Business Today creates Start @ a Startup Conference, catering to engineers and computer science undergraduates.
2013
The Online Journal is created, featuring editorial pieces, interviews, career pieces, and event coverage.
2015
Business Today holds its first Women in Business conference.
2017
Design Nation, the first ever national design conference for undergraduates, is founded. In addition, the first ever BT Breakouts Trip takes fifteen students to visit New York offices, including Uber, J.P. Morgan, and Tiffany & Company.
2019
The first ever journalism fellowship is created, including student writers from South Africa and Venezuela, to be published on the Online Journal.
2020
Business Today starts the year with its first regional Breakout trip in Chicago, ringing the closing bell for the CBOE. It holds its first digital conference and starts publishing podcasts.
